brrrr

so, it's currently 33*F here in tulsa. people, that is ONE degree above freezing.

i don't mind living in oklahoma... but the seasons change so quickly here. we didn't have much of a fall, and it seems winter is officially upon us. there were actually snow flurries this morning. well, frozen, mushy rain .... whatever you want to call it. to me .... it's snow. i had my new handy-dandy seat warmers turned on, the heater blaring, my coat, scarf and mittens on this morning when i started off to work in the new ride. not a good idea. i have to be reminded of this every year. i was extrememly uncomfortable about 10 minutes into the drive. lol. i do this every year, and then remember that it's just a really good idea to start my car and get it warmed BEFORE i leave my house. genius, i tell ya.

have i mentioned that i'm cold? yeah. i hate it. i have a friend coming into town next week, and they're going to FREEZE their buns off. not only is it cold, but it's windy. you know the song... "OOOOOk - lahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plains....." whoever wrote that song ain't lyin.

happy tuesday.

aftermath

well, i survived another holiday with my entire family. i still feel full, but then again - i seem to feel this way from november-january every year. ugh.

didn't do a whole lot other than eat over the weekend. did some minor shopping, and saw the worst movie i've seen in a really long time. alexander. even though i love angelina jolie enough to swing for the other team - it was dreadfully awful. don't waste the 3 hours. had lunch with zero and halo. good times. zero is looking great and seemed to be feeling pretty ok. either that, or he was faking it. if he was indeed faking, he's almost as good as i am at faking it. heh. yeah, anyway - halo looked scrumptious AND he paid for lunch.... what a good man.

my long weekend was not very exciting at all, i'm afraid. the boys and i were talking over lunch about how this was the first year we had not been out boozin it up for the weekend. i am getting old.

happy monday!

turkey day weekend

so, i'm finally in my new digs. i say new, but it's actually right where i started with this company over 3 years ago. heh. at my old job, i had my own office. i felt a lot more important there than i do here, but hey -- at least i have a job, right?

so this weekend will be filled with lots of family and lots of food. also trying to get together with zero and halo, so should be good times. i took off all weekend from the restaurant, so i'll have a nice long weekend with no work interruptions. will probably catch a few flicks, too. oh how i love holiday weekends at the movies. got this via email and thought i'd post it in honor of the holiday. hope everyone has a great weekend - and think of at least one thing you're really thankful for. if it's a person, or has to do with a person ---- make sure you tell them about it. it will make thier day. :-)

I AM THANKFUL

FOR THE WIFE
WHO SAYS IT'S HOT DOGS TONIGHT,
BECAUSE SHE IS HOME WITH ME,
AND NOT OUT WITH SOMEONE ELSE.

FOR THE HUSBAND
WHO IS ON THE SOFA
BEING A COUCH POTATO,
BECAUSE HE IS HOME WITH ME
AND NOT OUT AT THE BARS.

FOR THE TEENAGER
WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING DISHES
BECAUSE THAT MEANS SHE IS AT HOME,
NOT ON THE STREETS.

FOR THE TAXES
THAT I PAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT
I AM EMPLOYED.

FOR THE MESS
TO CLEAN AFTER A PARTY
BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT I HAVE
BEEN SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS.

FOR THE CLOTHES
THAT FIT A LITTLE TOO SNUG
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I HAVE ENOUGH TO EAT.

FOR MY SHADOW
THAT WATCHES ME WORK
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM OUT IN THE SUNSHINE.

FOR A LAWN
THAT NEEDS MOWING,
WINDOWS THAT NEED CLEANING,
AND GUTTERS THAT NEED FIXING
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE A HOME.

FOR ALL THE COMPLAINING
I HEAR ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT
BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT
WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

FOR THE PARKING SPOT
I FIND AT THE FAR END OF THE PARKING LOT BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM CAPABLE OF WALKING AND THAT I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH TRANSPORTATION.

FOR MY HUGE HEATING BILL
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM WARM.

FOR THE LADY
BEHIND ME IN CHURCH
THAT SINGS OFF KEY
BECAUSE IT MEANS
THAT I CAN HEAR.

FOR THE PILE
OF LAUNDRY AND IRONING
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I HAVE CLOTHES TO WEAR.

FOR WEARINESS
AND ACHING MUSCLES
AT THE END OF THE DAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I HAVE BEEN
CAPABLE OF WORKING HARD.

FOR THE ALARM
THAT GOES OFF
IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS
BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT I AM ALIVE.

I AM THANKFUL

new wheels

well, i bought a new vehicle this weekend, and i absolutely love it. it's a 2004 Eddie Bauer Explorer. i know, i know..... an explorer.... but it's really, really nice and i fell in love with it. here are some pics:

1 2 3 4 5

rest of the weekend was ok. went to the weirdest wedding i've ever been to. it was a traditional wedding, but no one was happy. the bride and groom looked like they were about to die. if i look like that on my wedding day - someone shoot me right there. the reception was at the groom's sister's house..... she married a plastic surgeon. holy cow, it was the most beautiful home i've ever been in. and of course, i left my camera in my truck. we had valet parking up to the house... yeah, whoah. anyway, have a happy SHORT week this week.

ouch

i went to the dentist last week and had molds made of my teeth so they could make the bleaching trays. i've been faithfull using them at night like i'm supposed to, and today it feels like someone has scraped the enamel off with an ice scraper. my teeth are so farking sensitive that i don't even want to eat and i certianly don't want to drink anything hot or cold.. maybe this could be a good thing, if it only lasts for a day or so.... hmmm.... yeah, no. it hurts. but my teeth are already getting pretty white. YAY! i quit smoking almost 2 years ago, and i promised myself that when i did, i would get my teeth bleached. well, i am keeping my promise as i like to do and despite the bit of pain, i am happy with the results already. i will have a hollywood smile in no time!

talked to a car salesman friend of mine yesterday, and i might just end up getting an explorer. they are nice and safe, and i can get a great deal on one. we'll see. if all goes well, i will be sporting a new ride this weekend. w00t! he laughed at me becuase i'm such a girl..... he asked me what options were a must-have. i said, i don't care... i just don't want anything that's red, green, blue, or yellow. :-)

happy wednesday!

upgrade. pfffct.

so, we have been under new management for over 6 months now, and the world has been a much better place. yesterday, along with all the construction STILL going on, we have all these computer guys "upgrading" all of our systems. what they were really doing was setting us all up on some server that they can monitor from their home base in california. the last guy that got canned from here had porn all over his computer, so the higher powers that be thought it would be a good idea to monitor what we're all doing around here. i did get a ton of RAM added to my system - so that's good. i can store more personal items. w00t! i also got everything updated like my email. i was running outlook 99 or something ridiculous, so these are good things. now, i just have to figure out how to work all of this stuff. lol. this past week has been heaven, as i've been in my own office. i feel like i have a real job, and i've been able to get so much work done. no chomping. no hacking. it's GREAT. sadly, this will all end in a few days, and i'll be thrown into a huge corner office that i have to share with 2 others. corporate america... gotta love it.

went car shopping last night. did the thing you're not supposed to do, and got my heart set on a 4runner i drove this weekend. they sold it. and all that was left were brand new ones that are out of my price range. sadness. oh well -- there are other fish in the sea, right? ppffct. i hate that saying. people always say that and i want to punch them in the face. i don't WANT other fish. i want THAT ONE. i want the 04 silver 4runner... the one with the limited package. the one with not very many miles and a fabulous price tag because it was a dealer car. WHHHHHAAA!

anyway, so i'll continue my quest for a new vehicle and hopefully will find something before weeks end. my tall body needs to get out of my clown car and get my arss off the concrete. wish me luck.

happy tuesday!

weekend update

well, friday night i went to happy hour with some co-workers. funny how different people are outside of the office.....especially after some alcohol is in their system. found out a VERY important person here is sleeping with a not-so-important person. heh. thank God there's some nasty gossip circulating and it's NOT ABOUT ME. this is such a good thing! i later met my fabulous sister for dinner and a movie. we go on dates a lot since her husband is in Iraq. we saw The Incredibles and i LOVED it. pixar movies are so cute. also saw bridget jones' diary this weekend. not as good as the original.... then again, sequels rarely are. but it was still pretty cute.

saturday night, about 20 of us poured into a local bar and celebrated my wife's birthday. here's part of the crew. and some more.
we decided, after about 4 hours of beer, football, and catching up - that it would be a good idea to go sing karaoke . good times.... good times.

sunday, we had thanksgiving dinner at my grandma's house. this is the year that everyone has to go to their spouse's families for the holiday... so we celebrated early. it's always fun to get together. my cousin , kyndall, is one of the cutest kids on the planet and she will not go to anyone besides her parents.... and ME! muhahahaha!

that's about all, folks. hope all is well. happy monday.

SEMPER FI!

happy 229th birthday, Marine Corps!!

today markes the anniversary of the most glorified branch of the military. my family is all about the military... we have at least one person in each branch, and they all argure over who's the "best." i support all of our troops, but especially the marine corps since my brother-in-law is a marine and is stationed in Iraq. (i live with my sister, and it's just the closest one to home right now!) anyway, happy birthday, Bulldogs. we love you and want you to all come home!!

blah blah blah

so, i come to work yesterday and my office is being torn apart. literally. i was without a computer for a couple of hours and i thought my life was going to end. funny, how we've become so dependent on technology. i was also without a phone, which is FINE by me. i'd so much rather have business related issues be addressed via email anyway. i still don't have a phone, but my computer is up and running. w00t! i will be in this temporary office for a couple of days until they get my ne woffice remodeled. i know it sounds like a good thing, but i'll be sharing another huge office with chompy and hacky. right now, i'm by myself and it makes me feel like i have a real job. *sigh*

last night, the wife and i went to see "alfie." pretty good re-make, and what girl doesn't love jude law? he is scrumptious. all the players in the world should go see it.

this weekend i was in the old people capital of the world -- branson, MO. my grandmother has a time share, and all us girls go down one weekend a year and hang out. the family time is nice, but i would never, ever visit there just to go. eesh. maybe in 50 years.

i'm still buried, so updates will be when i can get to the ol' blog. have a great week!

BOTE

first of all -- keep Zero in your thoughts and prayers.

so, today is election day. i voted this morning, and the lines were extremely long already. this is good news.... VOTE VOTE VOTE!! i went to small group last night, and the couple that hosts it are from puerto rico. his mother and father were there last night, and we started talking about how important it was to vote. his father is a very tall, distinguished man.... very wealthy and prominent in PR and has carried that confidence over to the states. anyway, he has a very thick accent... and he stood up and stated very sternly:

"i waunt joo to aunderstand how BERRY important it is to BOTE."

so, get out there and BOTE, people.

monday, monday

hola! happy monday....

quick post before i get to the pile of work on my desk......

weekend was fun... got out of work on friday night, so the wife and i hung out at the brook and had a beverage or two. saturday night, big "invitation only" party at the brady theatre here in town... always a good time. costumes or formals. la-ti-freakin-dah. i didn't bring my camera inside because i didn't want to carry it around all night.... so no pics of some of the kick a$$ costumes that were there. my favorite of the night was a guy that did the "tennis meltdown guy" from the royal tennenbaums. so pissed that i didn't get a picture -- it was PERFECT. tweed jacket, headband, etc. good stuff. i bought a saloon girl outfit and slabbed on the most make-up i think i have ever worn in my life. good friends of ours were mia wallace and vincent vega from pulp fiction. we also had the white stripes traveling with us. heh. good times had by all. we are all aware of the fact that we're getting old, though... we left the party at midnight, and went to grab some food at a nice quiet restaurant. LOL. sheesh.

my boss is back today, so i am relieved of being in charge..... should be able to keep up on the ol' blog a bit better than the last few weeks.

have a great day!
