vacation of sorts

so, today is my last day of work. i am packing this evening and tomorrow, and pulling out of tulsa early wednesday morning. i can't believe it's already here, but i'm so excited about it! we are getting our internet/cable hooked up at the end of this week but i'm not sure when i'll have time to sit down and blog for a while. i've got interviews pretty much back to back everyday and lots of unpacking to do.... but i'll be back as soon as i'm able. hopefully with a job and lots of new information to share with everyone!

update

things have been crazy. one week from today, i will be in austin. i can't believe it's here already!
i've had several phone interviews, and have 3 personal interviews lined up for next week, so things are hopefully starting to happen in that area. everything else is taken care of! i'm excited about everything, but i'm a little but nervous, too. i've just never lived anywhere else, so it will be a big adjustment for me. i good one, though, i think.

we are having a bon voyage party this weekend, and i'm looking forward to seeing everyone there. i'm sure there will be some tears, but mostly just a good time spent among friends. there will be pics to post, so i'll try to do that before i leave here.

vegas, baby!

so, vegas was completely awesome. i am exhausted today, but that just means i did what i was supposed to do there -- stayed up the whole time! from the time we got there on thursday, to the time we left on sunday - everything was non-stop. we went sight-seeing friday all day, and there are several pictures from that day as well as a few others. you can either click here to see pictures at yahoo, or click the Flickr tag on the side bar -----------------------------> to see them.

i had lunch next to Seinfeld, and got to hang out with the boys from Stripsearch - so, really - what more could i ask for? the food was good, the city was fun, and i'll most definitely go back. i'd give you full details, but hey -- what happens in vegas, stays in vegas - right??

a co-worker of mine just got a call from her husband. he was at the dr's office, and now his car battery is dead. she is going to go over and rescue him out of the heat, but didn't have any jumper cables. i am the ONLY person on this floor that has a pair. what is wrong with these people? didn't their dads tell them to carry a pair at all times??

i'm off to vegas tomorrow. YIPEE! i'm a vegas virgin, so i'm thinking i'll have a pretty kick a$$ time. there will be many pictures taken, and i'm sure many stories to tell. keep your fingers crossed that i win some moolah while i'm at it. i'll be back next week with updates.

so, i went to my aunt's house last night and met my cousin's new bride. he is in the navy, stationed in south carolina and met her several months ago. they are 22 years old and seem to be happy and in love, so yay for them. guess how they met? www.hotornot.com. i am not kidding. love moves in mysterious ways, folks.

after dinner and conversation with the family, i met the wife and another friend of ours out at a club across the street from us. it's a hotel bar, and a place where you'll find more entertainment than you ever thought possible. they have live bands and such, but they aren't the entertainment i'm speaking of.... it's the crowd this place draws. i have never seen anything like it. last night, i spent God knows how much time staring in amazement at this couple on the dance floor. he had long, curly stringy hair, was wearing something like track suit pants, and a polo style shirt that didn't match whatsoever. she had stringy hair, too, was wearing a tight leopard skin tank top, short shorts, and chunky doc martin-ish sandles. (not that i care what people wear, but i'm just trying to paint a picture for you.) he had her spinning, dipping, back bending, etc. all over the dance floor - i have never seen anything like it. and then, he topped it off when the band had a guitar solo........ he flipped her over his knee, and actually played her like a guitar. he did this a few times, so i thought i had better get a picture of this or no one would ever believe me. behold:




now that, my friend, is some good entertainment.

i watched the movie 'coach carter' last night - good flick.


i don't know what to do with my hair. being that it's red and naturally curly, there's not a whole lot, so basically it's bangs or no bangs. i could cut it, but i look silly with short hair. i could color it, but i can only go different shades of red because of my coloring. the problem with bangs is that sometimes they look like i want them to , but when it's really humid outside, they end up looking like this.

i wish i could've gone to the blogher conference. some of my favorite bloggers were there, and it would've been really cool to meet them in person. i read dooce so much, that i actually dream about hanging out with her and Leta. yes, i know i'm crazy.


the song "burn" by ray lamontagne is one of the saddest songs i've ever heard in my life, but good lord i love his music.


i had to go to a funeral last friday afternoon for my cousin who passed away at the young age of 47. another reminder that we never know when our last breath will be, so live your life to the fullest.


i am moving in 30 days and i have no job yet. i'm not going to panic because if all else fails, i can resort to bartending again - i just really don't want to. anyone who can help with Austin, TX leads - i will love you forever.


i just found out that there is rarely ever a snowfall in ATX. this makes me one of the happiest people in the entire universe.
