i got nothin

i've been busy at work these last few days, but really - i just don't have anything too interesting going on right now and don't want to put you guys to sleep. in a nutshell -- lyle has called a few times and he can actually keep a great conversation going so maybe we can at least be friends. i addressed a gazillion invitations last night for another wedding shower we're hosting. there's ANOTHER wedding to attend next weekend, but this is one of the few that i dont have to do ANYTHING besides have a great time at the reception and i'm so excited about that! it's nice to have people ask me to sing or to help out here and there, but it's also nice to be able to attend as a "guest" and not have any responsibilities.

i've got no official plans for this weekend, which is unusual for me, so i guess i'll just wing it. we've got invites to head up to the lake, but we may just stay in town and kick it by the pool. all i know is that i'm off tomorrow AND monday, so i've got an extra long weekend ahead. YAY. thank you, America, for being established.

happy 4th weekend to everyone. GOD BLESS AMERICA. :)

another wedding

we attended another wedding this weekend, but this one was in town - so no traveling to paradise or anything - but it was still nice. they got married in a really old, really pretty epicopal church. very traditional ceremony, so it was long and boring - but the whole thing really was quite pretty. the groom is originally from texas, so there were several people there from texas. after a bit of wine and some dancing, there were people who still weren't quite ready to go home. some went over to a guy's house and watched a movie, and some of us went to the wonder that is Caravan Cattle Company. oh yes, country and western dancing fun for all! lol. (it is a mini version of Billy Bob's in dallas, if that helps your mental image at all.) i wasn't all too excited about going swing dancing in my dress and heels, but when HE asked if i wanted to go - i couldn't say no. is he cute or what? he lives in houston, and said he comes through austin a lot since it's only about an hour and a half away. YAY for me! he is the best dancer i've danced with in a long time - maybe ever - so of course i had a great time. if i didn't think he was cute before (which i obviously did) i would've after dancing with him once. there is just something about a man who can twirl you out on the dance floor and really know what he's doing.

i think he looks a lot like matt damon so that's pretty much what i called him all night. if you have been reading for a while, you know i have a problem with attracting men who have really bad names. if you're new here, i'll brief you quickly - there has been a randy, larry (who's first name is cecil), mitch, etc. it really shouldn't phase me anymore when a good looking guy approaches and i find out later that his name is lloyd - but it still floors me every time. i mean, most of these are family names - but WHY, OH WHY would you do this to your child? anyway, this one's name is lyle. i am not kidding you. he looks like THAT and his name is lyle.

aye aye aye. maybe i am just destined to marry someone with a bad name.

flowers

i tried for a while to turn my nose down at the idea of receiving flowers for a gift - saying they were just a waste of money, blah blah.... truth be known, i like to receive them just as much as the next girl. it's a good thing, because i get them on a pretty regular basis. there's the given occasion - holidays, birthdays, congrats, etc. but i get the out of the blue, too. sometimes they're from my current beau, sometimes from a secret admirer, sometimes even from my father. today, i received a bouquet and thought for a second that they might be from Ben. (if they WERE from him, he would've so gained about 1000 brownie points in my book.) but they were from a friend of mine who lives far away, just to brighten my day. how nice is that?

so, boys - if you have a current girl, or a girl in mind -- send her flowers. the ones sent for no reason at all are the best, anyway.

HAPPY FRIDAY!

I HAVE A REALLY BIG MOUTH

so, i'm going to grab something quick for lunch from the snack shop in the lobby of my building. i exit the elevator, and practically run into Ben - the newest hot guy in the building. Ben and I have run into each other a few times on the elevator, but nothing more than meaningless chatter. Anyway, he says "hey Red! how are ya?" and we begin with the small-talk. I stopped in mid-conversation and informed him that i was stopping to get something to eat. I noticed he had his briefcase and his car keys in hand, so I knew he was headed out to the parking garage. I told him to have a great afternoon, and he was gone.

I head into the snack shop, and Bob and Sherry are working as they normally are. They are an older couple who run this shop to ease their post-retirement boredom. Under my breath I said, "he is so cute" and Sherry happened to hear me. So she began to inquire who he was, what he did, etc. I finished the Ben information conversation by very confidently saying "he's my new boyfriend, he just doesn't know it yet." I hear someone behind me laugh lightly, turn around - AND IT'S BEN. he had come back to chat with me some more, and i had no idea he was in the shop.

GRRRRRRRRRr

my face was about as red as my hair, but i smiled politely at all of them and wished them a great afternoon. thank God he got cornered by one of his co-workers and i escaped fairly unscathed. i really need to watch what i say and when i'm saying it..... DO'H!

sunburned and tired

we flew in last night after spending the weekend in alabama. when the happy couple first announced the fact that they would be getting married in gulf shores, my initial reaction was "where?" i didn't know that 'bama had anything pretty, but i was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at our destination. the resort was right on the beach, the sand was white, and the ocean was blue and fabulous. for the first hour or so, i continued to freak out about how gorgeous everything was. our bedroom had an entire wall that was glass doors that led to the patio, so everymorning i woke up to the awesome view of the ocean. we spent 4 days there, and as much fun as we had - i was ready to come home. we partied way too much, and were all pretty tired on our travels home. we sure had a great time, though, and the wedding was absolutely wonderful. i have several pictures that i will share with you, but will have to download them tonight being that i forgot my camera today. :( the beach vacation is over, and now it's time to start preparing for vegas. i'm going to put someone in charge of making sure i come home from that place. i've never been, and i'm thinking i'm going to have the time of my life. CAN'T WAIT.

happy monday. :)

raise your hand if you hate your job

i hate my job so much i would rather get cut with razor blades and take a bath in lemon juice rather than come here in the mornings. i have been here for 4 years, in the same position for 3 - and the need for change is over-whelming me. i wasn't even going to blog today because basically, i got nothin. but i logged on to spend a few more minutes doing something OTHER than work because i hate it so much.

my co-workers are nice people, but annoy the crap out of me. among the hacking and the chomping -- they are both loud talkers..... especially on the phone. and since we do a lot of our business on the phone, i spend my day listening to these women practically yelling all day long.
I HATE IT.

the good news is that today is more than half-way finished, and i only have one more day here this week. i leave thursday for the first of the destination weddings i'm attending this summer. this time, in 48 hours - i'll be arriving at the resort in gulf shores, AL - changing into my bikini, and hitting the beach. WOOT!

i cannot wait to get out of this place for a little while. i might be forced to pull my eyelashes out to relieve stress. (ouch. did you know that people really do that? when i'm stressed, i prefer just having a vodka tonic or six.) hehehe

aaaaaaaaand, i'm done.

update

finally got a bit of a break here at work. i was off 4 days last week, and i still hate my job today. i really need to marry rich so i don't have to work, and i can just do volunteer work, cook, and clean the house. really, i do.

i was sick last week, so nothing too eventful. saturday evening, the girls got together in celebration of upcoming nuptials for two of them. we ate, drank, and took some fun pics. we ended up staying at blondie's house until after 2am! one of the girls grabbed my camera while i was doing my "shoot" so here's a sneak peak:

cropped

too bad i don't have anyone to really send them to. :( i'll put them in an album and pull them out for when i REALLY need to suck up to my future boyfriend. hehehe.

happy monday......

weekend update

happy monday.

weekend was ok. spent from 9am-5pm at my company picnic on saturday. i am on the "activities commitee" for my company and had to be there all day. i got a pretty wicked sunburn, but all in all had a good time. there were inflateable jumpy things, water slides, popcorn, sno cones, cotton candy, etc. basically a carnival type thing. we also raffled off prizes for the adults, some included DVD players, coolers, and 1 hour massages. as a "thank you" of sorts, the 3 gals on the committee each got one of the massages, so that was really nice. i didn't have my camera with me, but here is the only pic that i made it in. hopefully. i'm lookin a little skanky.

that night, we went to OKC and hung out with some friends of ours. i always have a great time when i go there. i'm not sure if it's because it's just really that much more fun, or if i just like it because it's a different scene. ?? the next couple of months are going to be really busy for me. destination weddings and preperation for the move to austin. i plan to be gone in 87 days. not that i'm counting. i have no idea if i'm going to stay with my company, or look for something completely different. i also have started looking for apartments..... for those of you who have moved around at all - unlike me - when should i get serious about looking for apartments if i want to have one rented by september 1st??
