fight!

tonight, i am going to a charity event that i've attended for the past 6 years. i work the event, and usually come away with a lot of cash. the event is a boxing tournament, and there are usually 500-700 men there - all dressed in tux's. they "hire" one girl for every table, so the odds are 10 men to 1 woman. talk about oogling. we (the girls) wear evening gowns and basically just tend the whatever the men need i.e. cigars, drinks, memorabilia, etc. they always have a celebrity of sorts at the event, and this year it's rumored to be Dennis Rodman. we'll see if he shows or not?? i bought a new camera last night, so I'll be trying that out for the first time tonight...... so, there should be pictures posted of the night. i am so excited! my dress is killer, and 3 of my good friends will be there with me this year. i'm sure there will be many good stories to tell. i'll be in training all day tomorrow, so i may not be able to update until monday - but i'll do my best.

happy thursday!

guapo

so, last night was the big "the bachelor" finale. 3 hours - i am not kidding. cecil larry junior called me last night, but he made sure a commercial was on before he dialed. sweet, huh? :) i told him i'd call him back later (it's all about priorities) and called him after the show was off. we ended up talking on the phone for almost 2 hours. no, i'm not a teenager who's ear is glued to the phone - it was just really good conversation. it's so fun when you first meet someone because there is so much to find out about each other. not that this "relationship" will last any longer than the rest of them - but it's still fun for me to learn about people. he has 2 sisters - one who introduced us last weekend, and one who lives with his mom in OKC. she has downs syndrome and he has helped take care of her for years. sweet, i know. he hates his name as much as everyone else does and encourages people to call him by nick names. most of his guy friends call him by his last name (which is pretty norm for men, especially if they are any kind of athlete or in the military) and his roommate calls him "guapo." he is 1/2 mexican and is very handsome, so the name fits! i'm thinking that's probably what i'll be calling him, too. at least for a while. i am a pet name kinda gal, so IF we end up dating i'm sure i'll come up with something a lot more sickeningly sweet. :) we'll see. it's brand new, and it's so fun right now. he's pretty cool right now, and we've not even kissed or anything. i kinda like it. i'll keep ya posted.

happy tuesday!

what's in a name?

weekend was fun. worked friday night, and saturday i got to hang out with my sister. YAY! i talked her and her husband into coming to the casino with us that evening. there is a new casino built on indian (feather not dot) land which allows us legally to have gambling in the state of oklahoma. WOOT! they had slots only for a while, but a few months ago they added tables and it's been a pretty happenin spot. so, being that my sis had never been to a casino, i started her off on slot machines. she played nickels at first, and i talked her into at least going to the quarter slots. i put $20 in one machine and just kinda showed her how to do it. yeah, i ended up making $200 off of that little beauty. gotta love that. i had it over 250 at one point, but wanted to play a little bit. when it got down to $200, i pulled out. not that i wanted to, mind you, but i didn't want to squander all of my modest winnings. we left there and i was the only winner of the night. yay me. we went out afterwards to a club and being the nice person i am, i paid for everyone's way in and bought a round of drinks. DJ was good, people watching was better. my sister is way more reserved than i am, and likes to sit down at a table and observe all night. when we get her to actually come out, i generally stay around her and keep her company as opposed to fluttering around. she was pointing out the pretty people (she has great taste) and getting a kick out of all the guys who came by and hit on us. 2 tall redheads are way more intriquing than one. *wink* anyway, we noticed a gal that was really just drop dead gorgeous. she was tall, brunette and very funky looking. her hair was short and all a mess, and she was dressed in what looked like vintage everything. i always wanted to dress like that, but never could pull it off. i went up to her later in the evening to compliment her on her beauty and she politely said "thank you!" and that was that. later, she came up to me and said, "you know, since you think i'm pretty - i've got a great idea. my brother is here and looks just like me... i'm sure you'll like him."

she was right.

he was a guy that my sis and i had pointed out earlier. he stands about 6'2, has black trendy ashton kutcher hair, and the most beautiful brown eyes i've ever seen. they're the color of the lighter brown plain M&M... you know the one? anyway, he came over and we talked for a while and he asked to give me his number. ummm, okay. twist my arm. he put the number in himself as it was loud in there and i didn't want to really be shouting to the world that i was getting hot guy's digits. :) he handed the phone back to me, and i said - "um, what's your name?" (we had been talking but never really discussed that important fact.) he was hesitant to reply and i thought it was kinda strange. then he quietly and with a roll of his eyes said,

" larry."

i am not kidding. usually i change names to protect the innocent on my blog, but i had to let you know what it really was. i mean, really..... larry? i'm so sorry if your name is larry, but that is one of my least favorite names in the entire universe. ugh. it's a good thing he's so good looking and fun, or i'd be done with it solely on the name thing. i know, how shallow of me. but ugh. it's like in the movie when harry met sally --- sheldon. ugh.

anyway, he called when he got home that night and we talked for over an hour. great conversation and we were both sober enough to remember it all. WOOT! i, of course, brought the name thing up and the conversation went something like this:

me: so, your name is really larry?
him: yes, i know. it's terrible.
me: what's your middle name?
him: larry.
me: and your first name?
him: *laughing* oh no. i don't know you well enough to tell you that information
me: that bad, eh?
him: well, i CHOOSE to go by larry, so that must tell you something....

he never told me, and i just dropped it for the time being. we met up last night, and i begged him to tell me. he laughed and said he'd let me guess. so, he told me it started with a "c."

me: clarence?
him: i wish.
me: hmmm, clyde?
him: nope. but it's about on that level.....
me: cecil?

*silence*

me: THAT'S IT, ISN't IT??
him: *look of disbelief on his face*
me: *giggling* CECIL??
him: where did you pull that from?? who our age even knows that name?!?!?

come to find out, he is a "jr" and it's really not his fault. he's the only boy, and his father desperately wanted a namesake. poor kid. he never had a chance.

so, i'm not sure what i'll call him - but it most certainly won't be larry or cecil. i told him i'd come up with a nickname for him after we'd been around each other for a while... but who knows..... i'm generally over them in a couple of weeks. if we don't end up dating - i'm sure i'll refer to him as "cecil larry junior" or "the guy who had that horrible name."

happy monday.

friday the 13th

happy friday the 13th!

i love it when the 13th falls on a friday. i am not, nor have i ever been superstitious. i don't think i could be if i wanted to. i came into this world on friday the 13th, in october no less. i'm not afraid of black cats, i walk under ladders, and i open umbrellas in buildings without fear of something terrible happening to me. of course, i make a wish at 11:11 and i sometimes "knock on wood" so maybe that makes me a bit superstitious. ?? at any rate - i always have great days on friday the 13th's and i plan on doing the same today.

re-cap

so, yesterday i really had no time to post -- sorry, TIMMY! , for making you wait to hear the RW McQuarters story.

where to begin .... hmmmm, well we went to OKC for a wedding and my friend Barbie's birthday. (no, that's not her name - but she looks like one, so the blog nickname fits.) she has been a friend of mine for several years and is really a lovely human being. she lives in dallas now, so meeting in OKC is about halfway, and a good idea since we don't really know a lot of people there and can let loose a bit. we ate dinner at mickey mantle's restaurant, and i was quite surprised at the clientele there. there were people in suits, and people in teva sandals and t-shirts. WTF? it is a nice restaurant, everything is served a la carte, and it's quite pricey - yet there are people there in teva's?? weird. anyway, this picture was taken there, and as you can see - she is really tan and i am not:

oreo

anway, we went to skyy bar, a dance club in the heart of bricktown and ended up having a really good time. the DJ is a friend of ours and really, is the best DJ around. we danced pretty much all evening, and i even had some sort of a dance off a la "save the last dance" with some random guy. see?

danceoff

he just looks really confused in this picture, but i swear he was dancing. see?

dance

:)

anyway, after we had been there for a while - i notice this tall, big, gorgeous black man making his way through the crowd. being a sports lover, i know that RW McQuarters lives in Tulsa during the off-season. i have seen him out before, and even met him a time or two. (for those of you who live in LA *cough* pisser *cough* - it's really cool to see any kind of celebrity here in OK.) so, i grab my camera and head on over to where he is. i know he won't mind, even if he doesn't want to take a picture because i am redheaded and i have a big a$$. we've discussed this before - all men who are not white love me. so, i walk on up to him and snap a picture with him. he smiles, and says- "a'ight, but you owe me a dance for that later." i go back to the table, so proud of conquering my quest, and get back to dancing. later, Mr McQuarters comes over to the table with a goose and tonic, squeeze of lime. how'd he know what i was drinking?? he asked my bartender. smooth operator. so, we chat for a bit, and i get back to my birthday girls with promises to dance later. he finds me, we dance, blah blah. at the end of the night, he wants to put his cell number in mine, and i'm thinking SCORE! this pro-athlete wants to hang with the redhead. WOOT! so, he gives me his number, area code 619 something. i have no idea what the area code is in chi-town, so i think nothing of it. i call on the way home and say we're heading back to the hotel. we (the girls and i) go back to the hotel and play for a while, then i pass out. i got a message the next day that was pretty funny - something about how not cool it was to just not answer my phone.

i get home, he calls again and says he'd love to see me sometime. i hop online to check his picture out on the bear's website and about lose it because i'm laughing so hard. here is a picture of RW McQuarters:
rw

here is a picture of guy i THOUGHT was RW all night long:

ummmm, maybe next time i shouldn't drink so much.

happy wednesday.

busy

i'm swamped. ugh.

had fun last night. cinco de mayo partying with my sister, my girfriends, and a handful of marines. great company! home and in bed at 2am - not so good. i didn't wake up to a tan, buff, tattooed marine - but that is okay with me. i needed my beauty sleep after being out all night. i'm getting to old for this sh*t.

happy seis de mayo

jar heads

i went to dinner with my sister, her husband, and my grandparents last night. we don't see them often, so it was really nice to sit down and visit with them. after dinner, my sis and i wanted some cofee so we headed to starbucks to relax and just visit for a while. while we were there, my bro-in-law's phone rang and on the other end was one of the marine's in his unit. company? whatever. anyway, 2 of them came up and joined us and after sitting for about 30 minutes, we decided to head to a bar for some frosty beverages. we sat at a table in the back of the bar and just chilled out together - very fun. some random drunk guy bought the boys a shot for being in the service - tequila - and the party was ON. lol. we started celebrating 5-5-5 early.

i woke up with a super buff, tan, tattooed marine in my bed this morning wearing nothing but boxers.

SEMPER FI :)

happy cinco de mayo!

irritated.

not happy.

not happy at all.

i got home from work last night, and the beloved DVR had screwed up the recording of American Idol. it kept getting "stuck" one minute and 30 seconds into the show. kinda like a CD that is really scratched. so, i missed the entire episode, and now have to rely on other internet geeks out there to post it somewhere so i can download and view the show.

NOT HAPPY.

in other news, there is a really hot guy that moved in this building. a law firm moved in last week, and although most of them are old and unattractive -- he is opposite of them. i'm not sure if he is interning, or whether he fresh out of law school, but he looks to be in his late 20's. he's about 6'5, dark headed, and makes a suit look REALLY good. yesterday around 5, i hopped on the elevator to go down and get outta here, and as is normal for me - i had my hands full. as i was fumbling with the papers i had in my hand, i dropped my keys. just so happened that Hot Guy got on the elevator at the exact moment i dropped them. our conversation went something like this:

*drop keys*

Hot Guy (HG): "do i make you that nervous?"
me: "don't flatter yourself."
hg: *chuckling* i like that - you're spunky.
me: "i'm a lot of things." *grin*

*** elevator opens to lobby level***

i get out and walk towards the parking garage.

hg: "don't i at least get to know your name, miss a lot of things?"
me: *giggling inside because it reminded me of austin powers' gal alotta vagina*
"my friends call me red. i go to lunch at 1, and my favorite flowers are gerbera daisies.
have a nice evening."

so, we'll see what comes of that filirtatious banter.... maybe nothing, maybe something. who knows? he's white and he's american, so i'm betting he doesn't do anything. i'm tellin ya, i don't attract those kind. hehehe.

happy wednesday!

all by myself

well, i'm going to be all by myself for the next couple of weeks here at work. hacky is having back surgery and will be out for at least 3 weeks, and chompy is going to be with her daughter who is having a breast reduction. yeah, i'll never have to have one of those.

there are good and bad things about this situation. good thing, is i will be by myself in a large corner office for at least 2 weeks. no hacking, no chomping - no meaningless banter to fill the silence i so dearly love. on the down side, i will be doing all of the work for both of them. ugh. this does not make me happy at all, but it sure makes me look good to my superiors that i can handle it all by myself. so, whatever.

in other news, i need to get a tan. those of you who know me are probably laughing, because being a natural redhead, i don't really get " a tan." i go from porcelain to light beige, so it's not like i will be bronze in a few months or anything. but, i am a lucky redhead in that i don't freckle, and i really can get a pretty golden color. memorial day weekend is coming up, and i have to get some color as to not blind everyone else on the boat! wish me luck. :)

happy tuesday

stuffs

had a pretty good weekend. got a pedicure on saturday, so now my feets are ready for open-toed shoes. too bad it's like 50* here right now. argh - it is supposed to be spring time. that means 70* weather, not 50*. can i talk to whoever's in charge of that??

anyway, the wife and i went out saturday evening to a place we haven't been to in ages. bellied up to the bar and people watched most of the evening. this has to be one of my all-time favorite pastimes. people are strange. strange looking, strange acting, strange smelling - just strange. we ended up drawing attention from the only 4 non-american men in the room. how does that happen? it just does. it's like men who are not caucasion - i just attract them. and what's with foreigners hanging out together?? one from spain, one from switzerland, and 2 from england. they don't work together, they just met randomly and hang out now. why? see-- strange.

so, the 2 Brits ended up hanging out for a bit, and at one point wanted to buy shots. the wife chose "washington apples" because they're not TOO girly and still taste good. after "davit" took the shot, he leaned over and said, "did you like them? yes? right then. BAHTENDA, 4 more apples from washington!"

hilarious.

sunday was rather uneventful but that's how i like my sundays. today, i'm back at work - hating my job, and counting down the days until i don't have to be here anymore. 122, just in case you're wondering. :)

happy monday.
